Terms of use

A tool to help pets get home
Scan for Rescue connects a physical QR tag to a pet profile. It is not a GPS tracker, emergency service, veterinary service or guarantee that a pet will be recovered. A scan does not automatically give us the finder’s precise location. Notifications depend on the available features, connectivity and the finder’s actions; do not rely on them as your only way to find a pet.
Your account and tags
Account holders must be at least 18 and authorized to care for the pet. Keep your login secure and your contact details accurate. Connect only a tag you own or are authorized to manage. You are responsible for having permission to upload photos and to share other people’s contact information. Do not post sensitive human information in a pet profile.
Public sharing and safe use
Read the sharing notice before connecting a tag. Anyone with its public URL can view published details. Do not scrape profiles, guess tag identifiers, claim someone else’s tag, send spam, harass people or attempt unauthorized access. Meet finders safely and contact local animal services or emergency services when appropriate.
Plans and pricing
The published digital-service prices are CA$4.99 per month or CA$99 for a one-time lifetime plan. Both plans cover one account with up to 5 connected QR tags. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Physical tags are not included; any applicable sales taxes will be shown before purchase.
The QR service includes pet profiles, enabled contact options, finder messages, optional finder-shared location and connected-tag management. Bluetooth devices, cellular GPS tracking, biometric identification and 3D scanning are in research and development and are not included in these plans.
Payment and activation
Online checkout and subscription billing are not available yet. Creating an account or connecting a tag does not start a paid subscription or authorize a charge. Before paid activation, you will be shown the applicable price, billing schedule, cancellation and refund terms, and asked to agree. Existing accounts will not be automatically enrolled into a paid plan.
The lifetime plan is a one-time payment with no recurring service fee. Its coverage duration and conditions must be finalized and shown before it becomes available to purchase. Do not treat the published price as an active purchase or entitlement.
Availability, changes and ending use
This is an early-stage service and interruptions or errors can occur. We may change features or suspend abusive use, with reasonable notice where practical. You may stop using the service and request account deletion. Deleting an account is not a substitute for cancelling any future paid subscription under its disclosed cancellation process. We will explain material changes to these terms; changes do not remove rights you already have under applicable law.
Independent tag sellers and reseller inquiries
Buying a physical tag from an independent seller is a separate transaction governed by that seller’s disclosed sales terms. That does not make the seller the operator of Scan for Rescue. Any service included with a seller’s tag must be described in that offer. Reseller QR-code pricing is quoted separately; sending an inquiry does not place an order or authorize payment.
Your legal rights
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer and privacy protections. Ontario law and applicable Canadian federal law govern, subject to mandatory protections in your place of residence. These terms do not require mandatory arbitration or waive statutory complaint rights.
